Bayern 0 – 1 Bremen; First Half

By: Angela | August 15th, 2009

I have to keep reminding myself that this is a team that hasn’t really had much playing time together and that it’s going to take them a little bit to become a cohesive unit.

Just my two cents:
Weise, in my opinion really isn’t a great goalkeeper.
I keep hoping Rensing will surprise me, but so far no luck. I keep looking for the features that Oli Kahn sees him, but I just can’t find them.
I think at some point Philipp Lahm will make a great Captain, but I haven’t seen any leadership from him today that makes me think he’s ready for that. I would’ve preferred Schweini as second Captain I think. Lahm has to do better going forward.
Mario is bound to bag a goal sooner or later if he keeps trying like he is.
The passing has been just short of insanely terrible.
I am glad to see Miro back. Hope he will fall into place once he’s back on the pitch for awhile.
I haven’t seen anything that makes me think Bayern deserves a win over Bremen unless they pull off something drastic in the second half.

Here’s hoping the second half is a little more productive. I’ll be curious to see if/when van Gaal brings on Franck.

They looked so listless in the first half… I can handle losing if the team puts 100% effort and just gets beat, but that first half they did not play hard, the biggest sin for me.

Though you can hardly blame Rensing for that goal, you just keep waiting for that one big stop that shows everyone that he belongs on a top European club. It is my biggest disappointment that they only looked at Neuer, as in my mind there are many goalies, both german (please not Weise, most overrated player in the Bundesliga) and of other nationalities.

How the hell did Badstuber not score in the 49th minute. my grandmother could have put that in.

Roger – I agree completely with that.

    I am very disappointed today.

Well, Weise did make a couple of game saving plays in the second half, more than you can say for Rensing…
I really doubt Rensing would have been out there to keep Olic from getting a chance like Weise did, however if Olic had seen Gomez he could have made Weise look stupid. Still would not want him at Bayern, but giving credit when it’s due.

Ribery and Olic injected the energy that was missing in the first half.

The linesman in the second half was terrible… Only offsides call he got right was Ribery in the 86th minute, I believe, but some of his calls were just wrong.
