Much better played. The rest of Bayern's schedule is very easy with the exception of Stuttgart. Hoffenheim lost it when they lost their striker and Leverkusen has fallen on hard times. Woldsburg will slip up at least once, and if Bayern can keep getting 4-0 results against the bottom feeders, they will be able to take this in the end. They just can not lose another game, and draws are even bad atm. Also, I forgot who commented on my Hertha being smoke and mirrors, but the mirror appears to have broken.

I agree with Zermatt and Angela. If there are big plans afoot, Klinsmann, why assume a UCL exit?

While everyone's saying the dressing room's not lost confidence in the coach, what if the coach has lost confidence in the team?

Juliet, I think that for Adler and Neuer the only chance to play regularly the CL is switching to a team that assures (except accidents like last year)that level, and in Germany only Bayern can do that. As I see things now, Rensing should have been playing on loan last year at least, so he could have polished those flaws, or so Bayern staff could have noticed he has not the level required for our team (I still don´t Know, Kahn and Hitfield say he has it). Finally I consider the goalkeeper question is the most important one for the future, and it should be solved this summer, without short time solutions.

Going into any match with the attitude of you'll be exiting isn't the right one to have. I don't care if you lost the last game 14-0. You go out there like you're going to clean house - even if it's not possible. That quote just really irks me, but then I've never been a fan of Klinsmann's coaching style.

Personally I would like to see Bayern purchase Yuri Zhirkov from CSKA Moscow to cover the right side of defense with Lahm on the left! Both are very attacking wing backs and would give Bayern a more even keel when attacking down the flanks. Instead of being lopped sided on the left! Also we need a fast Centre back, but whom I don't know? I have to make a serious comment about this Jurgen Klinsmann quote on the FCB website:

"We have big plans for Tuesday night, because we want to make a fitting exit from the Champions League."

That maybe so! However, sorry Jurgen thats the wrong kind of language! As a fan I want to be hearing you address the players with fighting words something like this:

We'll treat this game as if the tie was 0-0 or we were only 1-0 down, and the players should be thinking along the same lines also!! They should be watching the video of the Champions League Quarter Final tie between Deportivo La Coruna and AC Arseholes as inspiration!!!
Deportivo lost away to AC 4-1 and came back to win the home return leg 4-0!!!! So it can be done!!! Although its a very difficult ask, but thats the atitude and deeds on the pitch I wish to see from the players on Tuesday night, thanks very much Jurgen!!!!!

It seems to me that the game is finally starting to slow down enough for Sosa to work himself in. It was good to see him make a bunch of move and also hassle the Frankfurt players. Sure this was a major downgrade in opposition, but he couldn't even do that before.

Bayern was strong defensively last season, but the template shown by Zenit in the second leg has been matched with devastating effect by a bunch of teams this season. Bayern's central defense does not match Klinsmann's philosophy and that's been cruelly exposed. Klinsmann demands speed, and none of the four choices really has that attribute.

That said, with all the options Bayern has in midfield, how about a 2-6-2?

Juliet: You'll get no laughing from me on the van Buyten factor. I think he could be an asset to Bayern if they'd find the right way to use him. He and Lucio don't pair well together and Demichelis is better when van Buyten is anywhere on the pitch. I still think that Demichelis plays a better midfield than he does defense as of late. I guess we'll have to see where that goes.

I'm with you on Lell as well. I've had it with him. Yesterday only adds to my frustration of him. And I can't wait for Lahm to get back. He was definitely missed by me.

Unfortunately, neither Adler nor Neuer would probably consider a switch to "FC Hollywood." I didn't see much of Butt in this game and tried not to see much of him in the (gulp) Barcelona game (not Butt's fault. Lell, I have had it with you). After Wolfsburg, I just don't see a way back for Rensing. After Rensing's performance as a fill-in against AC Milan in 07, I really had high hopes for him. But Bayern is just not the place for a young GK to try to develop, especially in Kahn's shadow. Enke has been urged to move from Hannover and doesn't appear to have a long-standing hatred of Bayern, so it might work out.

Bayern is getting Olic and Tymoshchuk in the off season. That's two needs filled. I'm actually most excited about Tymoshchuk. He could be the calming, self-assured influence Bayern need. Next, the team need a strong right or left back. I like Oddo, he's good for keeping Toni happy, and I think he's good in the attack, but he isn't spry enough for his main job of defending. Bayern need a new right or left back -- whatever Lahm doesn't want to do. Personally, even though Lahm prefers the right, I think he does his best work on the left. As for the center, I don't know about Breno, yet. I'm going to stick with Demichelis/Van Buyten + someone. Lucio is good for now, but I don't get the feeling he'll stick around much longer. Laugh all you want, but I also like that Van Buyten can fill in as the poor man's Luca Toni.

I admire Bayern's attempts to bring guys up from their youth teams, like Lell and Ottl, but they can't use that as an excuse to keep from purchasing quality talent. Ottl is good for more chances once Ze moves on, but Lell should never be more than a squad player.

Klinsi... Oh, Klinsi. His talent is managing, probably not actual coaching. For sure he hasn't lost the dressing room, but Loew was the tactician in the nationalelf....

Okay, I'm just rambling. sigh
