Twinkle & zermatt – Agreed. van Buyten has done a commendable job as of late. And he’s trying very hard to prove that he deserves a spot. Others should take notice because he’s definitely proving a point here.

I’d like to commend Daniel Van Buyten for his spirited play, determination, and strong desire to do well and what is best for the team. Five star rating for the Hannover match!! Lucio take note or piss off to Milan in the summer!

lucio better head to the bench, coz we need Van buyten on the field. sometimes his defending can be hapless, but he works hard and scores….which is awesome.

Shane: I agree with you on all points. I would definitely trade Rensing for Enke as well. Some of the mistakes that Rensing makes frustrate the heck out of me.

Schweini has been fantastic the last games. I have been very impressed with his play lately. He lost it for awhile, but has been improving each game. Altintop I love watching play. It’s unfortunate that he’s been plagued by injuries and will now be out for 2-3 weeks.

Here’s my theory on Lucio: Ever since his Leverkusen days, Lucio’s primary instinct has been to move way up the park. He did that early in his career as well with Magath, until he was forced to sit back because of the obvious hole left in his place.

When Hitzfeld came back, the counter attacking flank attack strategy, with Hitzfeld’s conservative approach prevented him any offensive moves.

Given Klinsmann’s propensity to attack at all costs, Lucio is having a ball, allowing the opposition to work the counter to maximum effect, and possibly exorcising himself of 4 years of frustration.

- Can’t wait for Toni to be fully healed. Poldi/Donovan are non-existent. I wish Donovan would succeed, but I just don’t see him ever being a decent 3rd striker for us.

- Demichelis is terrible as holding midfield. I was pretty surprised we didn’t start Ottl.

- Rensing is never going to be a top class keeper. He punches when he should catch, he comes out when he should stay in, he doesn’t come up with big saves that often. I’d trade Rensing for Enke in a heartbeat.

- Schweini looked great. Altintop can never stay healthy, but plays well when he is.

- Easy stretch of games coming up and we should be getting 3 points in each of them. It’s looking like a crazy Bundesliga finish. 4 teams tied for 2nd and shocking Hertha 4 points ahead. Also, Schalke is starting to heat up and close in on the pack.

- Very excited for quarterfinals CL draw. I am hoping for winner of Villareal/Panathinaikos, Arsenal/Roma or Atletico/Porto (Porto scares me though, that team is hot after a bad start to their season). Please no Man Utd is all I ask.

Ashlee: You have no idea what you’re talking about and obviously don’t read this blog regularly.

A Kap: Does Lucio ever stay in the back these days? I can’t really recall a game recently when he’s held his line.
You make a very good point about size. The last couple games in the BuLi, most of Bayern’s goals have come from headers. Against Hannover, all except Hamit’s were headers. It’s a little disconcerting.
Schweini has been brilliant the last couple of games. Unfortunately no one is capitalizing on his plays.

I agree with Luke. Granted I was half asleep from working all night, but I cannot fathom how atrocious Bayern’s central defense is even now. Once Lucio slipped, no one was close enough to track back! Why was Lucio traipsing out wide?

This was a good scoreline, but it is sufficient to say Bayern won because of size. Every goal was the in the air. OK, so Altintop’s wasn’t but it was Klose’s headed flick-on that allowed Hamit to go around and score. I think he had something to prove to himself after missing the one-on-one with the GK against Werder.

If Ribery does go, along with vB and Ze eventually, sure there’ll be a drop in creativity, but no one will be able to fault the work rate. If Tymoschuk deal works out, Bayern’ll still have a formidable midfield. Boro, Tymo, Schweini, Hamit and maybe Baumjohann and Kroos – very intriguing.

In there nearer future though, at least there’s a relaxing game mid-week, before the revenge match against Bochum.
