For some reason I haven't been happy with Schweini for the last couple of games, maybe because he seemed too anonymous for me. This is probably just nitpicking given Ribery's influence, but a though nonetheless, I figured he'd be more of a presence out wide.

With Toni and Klose finishing the way they are, Bayern really is going great guns. The Hoff match will be awesome!! (Zermat did say it better though).

Jocamryn:

Saw that. Why deny the obvious I guess. Of course, Uli is once again showing that Poldi is not dictating the terms. I wonder how many seasons before Poldi gets into the Champions League with Cologne? Good luck with that.

How would they actually put the letters on the jersey "Timoschtschuk" or "Tymoshchuk" as we are accustomed to reading in English? I assume the German spelling would take precedence for obvious reasons. How's that for getting ahead of ourselves? However you place the letters, he makes a lot of sense for Bayern. But, it appears they are hesistant to acquire any of the Zenit players in the winter because they can't use them in the Champions League.

"If we find replacements for him, I can imagine that we will fulfill his wish, to go to Cologne. We now have six months time. " ~ Uli Hoeness

What a change of heart!

Timoschtschuk had (not so) secret meeting with the top 3 IN Munich.

Both look like they will not occur until the end of the season though.

this game was disappointing, because i remember when Leverkusen was one of the top sides in Europe and when Bayer vs Bayern was a clash of Titans. I was happy to see that Leverkusen were one of the leading sides in the Bundesliga again... i had not gotten to see their games... after watching this game i was left wondering how such a weak side could have be anywhere near the top of the Bundesliga... i guess i'll finally have to accept the fact that the Bundesliga is a far less competitive league than it was five years ago...

Enough of my sentimentalism... As a Bayern fan this was an easy game to watch Leverkusen does not posses the quality to beat Bayern once Bayern is decently organized. Leverkusen tried to be defensive and kept their players behind the ball it slowed Bayern up in the first half but defensive football is "foreign" to the bundesliga and in the second half Leverkusen reverted back to a "standard" method of Bundesliga football which allowed Basyern to use their quick break offense to a much better effect and when Toni scored the match was over. Leverkusen looked in awe of Bayern's defense and other than that header against the bar they did not produce another scoring opportunity.

If Ribery is not the best player in the world now, he is in the top 2-3... that huge transfer fee they paid for him is becoming more and more a bargain every day. Please stay one more year Ze... You are playing the best ball of your life!

Anyway, the big showdown with Hoffenheim is next... Hoffenheim, home of 1 gas station, it still sounds comical to say it. A win by 3 or more goals moves us to the top of the table, and with Bremen and Schalke faltering mid table, sets up a second half where Bayern can run and hide like last year. The days of worrying about them playing well with Klinsi seem to be over. Amazing what happens when your best player comes back from injury.

Zermatt: I am amused, I thought I was the only one drip, drip, dropping over here. ;) Thanks for the laugh! And hey, I can't help it, he has great legs!!

Luke: You are a brilliant man. That is all.

Just like Angela salivating at Van Buytens legs (drip, drip, drop), can't wait for the eagerly awaited clash between 1899 Hoffenheim and Bayern! Especially as Bayern seem to have finally hit top gear and peak form. Should be a beauty, no excuses at home!!!

First of all: Leverkusen are a strong side. It's really a shame they are not in the UEFA Cup. Bayern really played in a rope-a-dope fashion for much of the first half. Leverkusen applied more pressure and had more chances although the chances that Bayern did have were quality. A bit lost in the shuffle were Schweini's strong efforts on goal. I also think he did a nice job getting back defensively as well.

There was definitely an element of experienced team vs young team here. As time went on you could see Leverkusen go for a long ball or take a shot one pass too soon. Of course, this really became more apparent after Toni's goal.

I was yelling at the monitor to sub Lucio out. At 0-1, I was sure he was going to "bravely" play on and give up the equalizer, failing to get into position. A moment later, a ball came deep in the Bayern end and the limp was gone, as he won the challenge in the corner.

Borowski nearly scored on his first touch. It may have come off boring, but taking Toni off in the spot they did was masterful. They immediately got a much better command of ball control, and stifled any attacks until after the 0-2.

Today, FC Bayern played like a championship team. It was a tough matchup away from home, but a match they really needed. Superstar players took care of business and roleplayers did their part. As a bigger showdown looms just 6 days away, we can say, our club is playing its best football of the season.

Another Saturday morning started off nicely with a win. I can't think of much to say about this game. Everyone played well and did their job. There were a few hairy moments especially in the first half, but it was a methodical, grind it out win for us. I expected the usual Lucio/Buyten blunder to gift Leverkusen a goal, but thankfully it never came.

If anything stood out from this match it was that Ribery makes this team. Without him we are completely average. With him we are extremely dangerous. I love watching him play and hopefully we can hang on to him for a few years.
