Poldi likely to head to Cologne
By: Angela | January 10th, 2009Shocking isn’t it? At least after the love affair that Bayern has had with him. By that I mean, clinging to him like the psycho ex girlfriend even though it was toxic to both parties. The news could come as early as Tuesday. Uli Hoeness has already met with Michael Meier who made a better offer for Lukas and the pair are set to meet again once Bayern return from Dubai early next week to talk further about the deal. Hoeness says the offer and demands are “very close.”
“We are in talks with Cologne and when I return next week we will reopen these talks, I think we will reach a solution by the end of the month. There are only small technicalities to put in place. I think we will manage it.” Hoeness told ZDF.

Yes I think Poldolski’s transfer away from Bayern is long overdue! Bring it on Uli!! We need someone who can actually score goals, and not just talk about them!

Looks like Bayern is going to have enough cash to seal the Tymoschuk transfer.

Godspeed Poldi, you’re still one of my favorite players and may you fare well back at Köln. No love lost, I totally understand why you want to leave.
Uuugh! Get rid of Sosa! See, we can’t even GIVE him away!
[quote]“The 23-year-old has failed to make a breakthrough at Bayern since making the switch from Inedependiente in the summer of 2007. In his first season he managed a modest ten starts and this year under Jurgen Klinsmann he has been even more peripheral.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently revealed that they are actively looking to loan him out, which is proving more difficult than expected according to general manager Uli Hoeness.
“My hopes of getting something arranged until the end of the month are not looking good at the moment,” he admitted to the club’s official website.
“But hopefully we will be able to work something out with another Bundesliga side.”

Klinsmann just came out saying he is not happy with Poldi’s lack of fight, which could also mean that LanDo might jump ahead in the pecking order and also see some playing time with an eye towards next season.
I think Poldi will not succeed anywhere but Koln for a long time, because at any of the other clubs supposed to be in the reckoning, he will not have an automatic starting spot, which along with all the other reasons for him being unhappy at Bayern, has contributed to his miserable stint.

A Kap: I agree about his fighting spirit really. Most people would rise to the challenge. They would at least -try- and fight their way in like van Buyten, who despite not playing is still trying to improve himself, have good games when given the opportunity and is -still- talking about how happy he is at Bayern regardless of lack of playing time. Poldi should take some lessons and realize that while he’s young and impressively talented, he’s still got a long way to go before he’s top.

What kind of credential is having played in MLS?!?!? I mean seriously. You really expect him top start in a CL game?! I hope that we don’t divert money that could be better spent. ANd really, Olic fills the Gap, why bring in ANOTHER striker?

Donovan won’t cut it as 3rd striker. He is 4th striker at best. Hopefully, we bring in Olic.

Jocamryn: I seen that. He will officially be on his way back to Cologne in the summer. I bet he feels better now.
And I agree with you and Shane about Donovan.Posted from

These guys are saying he’s a winter signing…

Goal.com is at the very very low end of internet football coverage. At best they simply copy from other sources and don’t screw up the translation quite as bad. Podolski will join Cologne in the summer and only if Cologne stay in the Bundesliga.

Jan is correct, I tend to give local news coverage more credit than 3d party coverage. I would expect that ESPN would have more up to date coverage of MLS than the Bild would.
Good for Poldi, I hate to see him go, but he’s just not going to get the game time he needs to stay sharp for the WM in South Africa.
