Great link Jan, thanks for pointing out this story! First, about the game on Sunday. Wow, that was pretty low. I couldn't help thinking, as Offside!Toni and others made the linesman raise his arm more than a classroom full of geniuses, that the team lacks discipline. Especially at the front. It's clear that this team needs to play smarter, not just harder. Ribery is clearly the most fit player on the team game after game, but I don't get the impression that he is playing smart enough, while he certainly is working hard. Same said for Offside!Toni and Klose. Our announcers was being very hard on Sosa, who did have a poor game, and clearly wasn't putting himself in dangerous positions.

On the other hand, what a game by Lahm! His crossing was incredible, and it's pretty pathetic that nobody could finish. You'd expect a few own goals with the types of threatening passes he created, but it was not to be.

It should have been clear to Coach Hitzfeld that serious changes to the lineup were needed, Offside!Toni (can we nominate a mascot for this website?) needed to be taught a lesson with an early substitution, as did the rhyming pair Sosa and Klose. Hitzfeld needs to instill some discipline, and he can start by shaking up the starting XI.

It's an interesting thing that's going on there... I will be glad to see Rensing back between the pipes though. :)

I'll come back to the Podolski question later, but I just need to share this first:
http://www.sportinglife.com/football/overseas/germany/news/story_get.dor?STORY_NAME=international_feed/07/12/11/SOCCER_Ger-Bayern_Munich.html&TEAMHD=germany

Oliver Kahn has publicly criticised Ribery and Toni for their attitude. Now, the news just came in that Hitzfeld suspended Kahn for the match against Berlin and fined him with €25.000. I didn't find an English link for this yet, but it's all over the German sports sites.

Very clear statement pro Ribery and Toni by Hitzfeld and I'm looking forward to more Bayern Munich drama in the next few days. ;-)
