  @ Gilly – definitely. I’ll do a post about the next 5 weeks over either tomorrow or Monday. It’s going to be an exciting run, no matter what happens.

  @ everyone – I’m headed to bed in a minute, so I’m putting the ban hammer down until the morning. If the crazies show up, just ignore, I’ll deal in the morning. Once I get all the IPs and email addresses on the ban list and upload to my dashboard (again, tomorrow or Mon), we’ll have a little more elbow room.

  Thanks for your patience. The intended move to SB Nation is still on, should happen sometime this Spring. Once that happens, everything is going to be 10 times cooler – access to a wide variety of pics and video from Getty/AP, more options for interaction between readers, and combining the reply/rating options of Disqus with the quick troll-comment deleting of this system.   I am sure that Robben will make his mark this spring in one way or another and I am sure that he has been around the block long enough to deal with coming off the bench for a few matches. Jupp’s goal has to be to keep the team fresh and striving for more at all times and the VFB and Kaiserslautern games have been a step in the right direction for many. Now lets see if we can keep this moving in the right direction.

  The first 45 minutes today was a nice improvement and we looked a bit more eager to move the ball around to different spots and with a bit more pace which was really nice to see. We are starting to get a bit more dangerous play in the middle of the pitch now and it is paying dividends for us. I am very happy so far with Alaba and Gustavo in the middle since Schweinsteiger got hurt, they are both giving it their all and they seem to compliment each other well which is key. Both of them can make runs up the middle if needed and they have enough speed to get back on defense if they are upfield. I was very happy to see Muller finally get a goal today as it was needed to help his confidence, nice header by Gomez too. After domintating the first 45 the way we did it didn’t suprise me that we let up a little in the second half offensively, but Kaisers still didn’t get much going against our defense and Neuer had little to do. We could have maybe blasted a few more shots around the perimeter of the box area in the second 45 and maybe pushed the pace a bit more instead of relaxing and resting on our laurels, but no need to be picky at this point in time. Bayern are headed in the right direction, now lets just make sure we don’t take any detours!

  On a side note I would much rather be in our spot right now than in Barca’s because Real has them in a stranglehold now in La Liga. I am very curious to see what Leverkusen do against them on Tuesday night???

  Good game boys. I think Kaiserslautern had like a half a shot on our goal!
  Robben looked like his old self when he came on. Loved the fact that Muller scored: it was about time.
  Gomes’ goal was nice!
  About drawing with Gladbach: when we drew to Man City, I immediately had this good feeling and was very happy about playing them, and as it turned out I was not disappointed. This time too, I really think we are gonna kick some Gladbach ass in March.
  On another note: I am looking forward to Leverkusen-Barca game. I really would love Leverkusen to win, I would like it a lot, in fact.

  Finally i can comment, thanks Phil. Tough game against BMG but we can do it most especially to prove to Reus that WE ARE THE BEST TEAM in Germany. Hopefully by then Schweini’ll be back and robbery wil be clicking, seeing robben warming up for the second half yesterday made me feel sorry for him and you could see from the way he was playing that he wanted to get his pos. back trying to make all the right passes. No matter what thoubh we need him in the long run for all 3 trophies.

  Yeah only Barca has Real ahead of them whose team is worth hundreds of millions of euros more than our opponents, so our spot isn’t a very good one to be in. We are the only club in the whole BL that can legitimately be called an elite club and people still hold it against us that we don’t manage to stay #1 in the table with such overwhelming firepower.

  Dan, most of those that think that way don’t follow the game close enough to see the samll differences in the Bundesliga, all they see are the obvious things that most everyone knows and that is Bayern is the biggie in the Bundesliga. A much more legitimate question would be how often does a team in the EPL, La Liga, Serie A or Bundesliga stay in the top spot in the League for the ENTIRE season??? Very, very rare thing to say the least and if it happened regularly it would take 90% of the thrill out of the race.

  And being two points down at this point in the season is nothing because there are too many opportunities for both sides to drop points in the remaining dozen or so games. I didn’t expect BvB to go away and they haven’t, but this run for the Bundesliga title will be a hard fought one that might go down to the last game.

  I watched the replay of the Gladbach/Schalke game last night and it was a blitzkrieg on the Schalke goal in the first 45 by Gladbach. Gladbach did the exact same thing to Schalke that the did to Bayern, but worse. Reus scored the first like 5 minutes in on a counter attack in typical Gladbach fashion. Some very poor defending by Schalke in the first half cost them the game, but their offense should have done much better in this one. Huntelaar touched the ball once in the entire first half with zero shots and Raul also rarely saw the ball around the box. Farfan couldn’t do much on the wings and Gladbach plugged up the middle and really limited Schalke shots to long range efforts that were high or wide at best. It was just hard to believe that Schalke got so little out of their strikers up top in this one, they just never saw the ball.

  Tough stretches! If previously there are players felt as redundancy, no more now. We need everyone to be healthy, and in my view, rotation will be the key to survive these tests. If Jupp does not properly apply rotation on the squad among these matches, we’ll be doomed, for sure. Mia san mia. Viva FCB!

  I hear what you are saying and I used to think the same until you look at the stats for BL teams. Everything from popularity to finance to the number of super stars, the difference between Bayern and the 2nd best BL team, Dortmund, is like between Real and Valencia and yet Real finishes their season 10,15 or 20 points above Valencia.
  BL is in a sense like La Liga only without 2 top clubs, only 1 and so you have to wonder: Why does Bayern not seem able to manage to establish this sort of dominance.
  LOL. I always got to laugh when a Bayern supporter seems to be looking for thrills and I think Franz Beckenbauer put it best when he said, “Bayern supporters are not thrill seekers.” I know I hate when they make it a thrilling game to the last minute especially when I feel that it’s against a team that we should be killing.
  As far as other leagues, Seria A I can’t really say anything on right now because they are in a state of flux with a tendency generally pointing downward. I think they are a league in decline and they haven’t hit rock bottom yet. As far as La Liga and EPL, if top teams in those leagues can’t keep the first spot it’s because they have to deal with other top teams like Real, Barca, ManU, Chelsea etc. We can’t compare that to BL as Dortmund is nowhere near that level. This is a reason why I think we need another top club in BL. I think Bayern gets very lazy as they are thinking: So we lost, what’s he big deal, we can catch up to them whenever we want. They don’t go into every single game giving 110%. That’s why lower level teams manage wins over us.

  Good one phil. Ya thats quite a schedule we have. 3 weeks of make or break time for us. I hope injures don’t complicate our task anymore. We had enough with Schweni’s (though Alaba has substituted pretty well). We can;t afford injuries to our current CBs. Boateng and Badstuber are starting to understand playing together and i hope it continues without intereptions.

  But ya yummy time for us Fans. Champions League is back

  @Dan, if it can happen to Barca and they are the best team in the world then why can’t Bayern lose to a lessor side??? During the course of 34 League games you are going to have some losses to clubs that you shouldn’t lose to, that is inevitable, form can NOT be replicated to such a standard that you can win month after month with out some peaks and valleys in the process throughout the season. All those teams you mention drop games every season to lower table clubs, it happens every year, always has always will. Hell, Inter just lost to Novara home and away in the SAME season, Novara a team that hasn’t won a road game in Serie A in 56 years, yes 56 years or in Budesliga terms the equivalent of Bayern losing home and away to Augsburg, now think about that. And no I do not believe that Bayern as a team have the mentality of no big deal we can catch up to BvB whenever we want to because that type of thinking leads to disaster in short order nine times out of ten.

  If a team wins the Bundesliga title 5 times in a ten year span what would you call that???

  And when was the last time Valencia won the La Liga title??? So how can you compare them to Dortmund right now? BvB draw the second highest attendance in the world and are adding stars as we speak, Dortmund won the title last season and are leading the race in the Bundesliga right now, if anything I would say that Bayern/Dortmund are more like Real/Barca about 5 or 6 years ago when Barca was just turning the corner and starting to make their big run.
