FC Bayern 2 – 0 Manchester City (with Video Highlights)
By: phil | September 27th, 2011A great game all around from Bayern. The first 10-12 minutes were a little nervy, I admit, but after both teams settled in, it was clear who were the better side. Gomez gets him name into the sheet twice, but for my money it was Ribery and Kroos who really controlled the attack and put everything together.
Although van Buyten wouldn’t be the first choice if everyone were healthy, I think it was the midfield who really dropped the ball in the first two minutes, given Manchester City a couple of (half) chances. But once we got going, Bayern’s superiority was fairly clear, with a majority of possession and almost every decent chance going our way. Bastian and Kroos both had decent looks that went a little high, but in the 38th minute, Gomez made no mistake:
Hart actually played this as well as he could have, making two good saves. It was really just good hustle by Bayern to get into the right place at the right time.
Still looking for a video of the second goal, I’ll post when it become available. Bayern vs Napoli will be a very interesting game.
Our 4-2-3-1 vs their 3-4-3 morphing into 3-4-1-2 will be a feast. Let's see if we can handle the TRUE speedy attackers like Cavani, Hamsik and Lavezzi.
Midfield battle: Gustavo and Schweini and Kroos vs. Gargano and Inler
Up top: Mueller, Ribery and Gomez vs. Cannavaro, Campagnaro and Aronica (back 3)
Flanks: Rafinha and Lahm vs. Maggio and Dossena/Zuniga
Loaded squads – loaded talent. Can't wait for the back to back games. All the while, cheering for BVB to beat Olympiakos twice and get back in it.

We got UCL live but they aired Man U- Basel and Real-Ajax live and Bayern on delay. That just sucked….

I agree 100%. Get the deals done early on, it is better for the team.
Olic and Tymo are the two question marks for next season and whether they will get extensions or not?

And the positive about winning our group is that we can not face the second place team in the CL draw around Christmas for the knockout rounds. So whether it is Napoli or Man City that get second it is one less side that we have to worry about in 2012.
