munichsoul I love your line up, but Klose will likely be out due to the injury. Kahn is also facing an injury, but we’ll see how he fares by then.

I would love to see van Buyten get a shot. I personally think Lucio is a big screw up and an own goal is definitely deserving of bench time in my opinion…

Klose is definitely out for the match on Sunday. The next one is an uncertainty, but he’ll likely miss out as well. I think he just didn’t want Mark being the only one with a broken nose…. Talk about Team Dedication.

schweinsteiger had a good game, and i think he was just tired, at one point a close up showed him just pouring sweat. i think the point of subbing in lell was to allow schweinsteiger to come out knowing that kroos could be brought on for attacking pressure if the game didn’t break. then lell could take over in defense for lahm, or whomever. hitzfeld’s been having an uphill battle trying to force his defenders to be midfielders (demichaelis drama, sagnol in midfield).

Looks like the whole Podolski-Klose argument is moot now. Nose broken in 3 places requiring surgery doesn’t sound like something you can come back from in 6 days.

2nd leg team:
Kahn, Lahm, van Buyten, Demichelis, Jansen, Schweinsteiger, Van Bommel, Ze Roberto, Ribery, Toni, Klose.

I hope Van Buyten plays against Stuttgart to prove himself better than Lucio at the moment. Klose over Podolski. I’d prefer an assisting Klose than a wide-shooting Poldi.

Luke I agree wholeheartedly. The thing we lacked today as well, with Toni gone, is our air assault. van Buyten is excellent in the air. Without Toni we needed all effort and evidently everyone felt it was okay to just skate through. We are in for a good row at Zenit.

Picking out a couple points:

Yeah, Rensing definitely looks like he’s lacking confidence. I can’t figure it out, because he’s played well in big games in the past, CL matches against Milan come to mind. It’s not like he hasn’t had those experiences. The rumors about Schwarzer sound good to me–that’s about the type of guy they need behind Rensing next season, H-J Butt was another I was thinking of.

Did anyone for Bayern even get their foot on a cross today? There are too many matches where there is no one moving off the ball for Bayern.

Despite what Uli Hoeness has to say about what strikers are paid for, I don’t really mind when Klose fails to score but plays creatively. But, he created nothing today. Nevertheless, I would favor him over Podolski in the 2nd leg, because I think it will be a very static match, the worst possible situation for Podolski.

I trust Klose more on the pitch than I do Podolski as of late. It’s sad because Podolski use to be one of my favorite players, but as of late I’ve felt like we’d be better off without him. He needs game practice and he’s just not going to get it at Bayern and he deserves more of an opportunity than being a bench decoration.

Ribery: Every one thinks he will get through with or without their help. He does most times, but that’s no reason to let him fend it out for himself.

Angela: I guess you are right about Podolski. But being inaccurate, distracted and inconsistent is still better than an out-of form Klose. An out of form Klose is like he’s not even on the pitch. But Hitzfeld might indeed trust his Getafe line-up with Kloni upfront.

Something else I noticed (also in the Getafe match): Ribery receives very little help from his team mates. It’s up to him to take on one, two, three or even four defenders and the other Bayern players basically just sit back and wait whether he gets through or not. He’s very often on his own and this is a waste as well.
