King Kahn gets a suspension
By: Angela | December 11th, 2007
Oliver Kahn received a one game suspension from Bayern Bossman, Ottmar Hitzfeld. Neither side is talking about the suspension, but it has been expressed as “disciplinary action.” Evidently, Kahn left the Chirstmas party early and Hitzfeld and Bayern President Franz Beckenbauer have expressed their discontent for this situation.
“It’s a time that brings the team together,” Beckenbauer said on German television. “He’s the captain and he just gets up and leave early.”
Media reports suggest that it might be something else, but people are keeping tight lipped at the moment.
Defender Philipp Lahm declined to say what led to Kahn’s suspension.
“It’s something that happened in the locker room and I am not going to make it public,” he said.
This will give young Mr. Rensing another shot in goal for Bayern on Sunday in their closing match against Hertha Berlin before winter break.

I’m not sure what he did in this case, but his comments about Ribery and Toni were right, even if they aren’t the kinds of statements that a captain should make. I hope not, but Oli should be trying to create cohesion in the dressing room and working on keeping his ego in check.
Is this the beginning of Bayern unraveling? Can Hitzfeld keep this ship on course?

Well well well… Toni Might be avaiable for tranfer .. apparently Oliver Khan is blaming Toni+Ribery for Bayern’s Slump…..
He’s racist Pig too..
[quote] Kahn, 38, told Kicker, “It is not good enough to make a bright start. One or two (guys) have got to work out that two or three good games are not enough.”
[b]“Bayern is not Marseille (where Ribery played) or Fiorentina (where Toni was); we are like Real, Man United, Barca or Milan.”
Ribery and Toni were two of Bayern’s offseason signings, and they helped the club get off to a great start until a recent stretch of poor performances.
Kahn also told Kicker, “It is hard to get a team together because we always need three interpreters. There is no pleasure in our game anymore, and every player has got to ask themselves why.

There’s a chance we have a good old fashioned dressing room rift at Bayern.
Schweinsteiger gave an interesting interview, where he talked about all sorts of things.
About Bayern’s young players:
“It’s just the way it is at most clubs. Players from the club’s own youth or young players don’t get the respect that the expensive players get, who are brought in from the outside. The appreciation levels are completely different.”He also showed understanding for Willy Sagnol’s wish to leave the club:
“Willy has been around a long time. But often people only talk about the new players. Willy, Lucio or Mark van Bommel - they deserve a lot of respect as well. You need these kind of players to win the big battles.”Now, of all new signings, who got the most attention from everybody. 1st: Ribery 2nd: Luca Toni
Miroslav Klose to some extent, but people already know him from Bremen and the NT, and he likes to keep a low profile, so he’s not so much the focus of all attention.
It seems that Oliver Kahn might have decided to react to the mood in the dressing room. I don’t know. Maybe a couple of other players on the squad secretly smiled when they heard Kahn’s remarks. I also wonder, what effect Hitzfeld’s clear positioning pro Toni and Ribery will have.

Jan: Thanks for all the useful information. And the link! I appreciate it.
I agree with Schweini on the remarks about the players as well. I sometimes wonder about that. I’m sure it will come out eventually.Yo: While I appreciate everyone’s right to their own opinion, it is Kahn’s right to think what he like about his teammates as well. And as for Bayern being Crap without Toni and Ribery… that’s a matter of opinion. Toni spends more time Offside than he does anything else…
