Bayern Blow: Ribéry Injured
By: Angela | February 5th, 2008
The blow has been handed down. Ribéry will be forced to take a three week reak with a thigh injury, meaning he will be unavailable for Bayern’s top of the table clash with Werder Bremen on Sunday. He will also miss the UEFA match with Aberdeen. Ribéry had met up with the French National Team, but after further medical exams, he was forced to leave and return to Munich for more treatment.
Another issue for Bayern is the health of Lucio. He has pulled out of Brazil’s friendly with Ireland and didn’t even travel with the team. He is expected to be well enough for the match on Sunday. And if not, there is always the Podolski factor. Lukas has recovered from his slipped disc and will be participating in Germany’s match on Wendesday.

Bad news indeed. It seemed like Bayern’s drop in performance in the second half against Rostock was closely connected to Ribery’s substitution.

Jan, I noticed that too… and it’ll be a better game if Bayern can recover. Bremen’s already shown that they can soldier on without some of their key stars in big games (I’m thinking of the game against Real Madrid, not the past week’s performances). I was looking forward to pitting our respective diminuitive little midfield schemers against each other. Pooh.

We are going to need to pick up some serious slack with the absence of Ribery. Especially against a team like Werder.
