Interesting to hear that Kroos did so well – he’s got to be one of my favourite players. Was very frustrating to see him put on the field last year after it was often too late… sincerely hope that he gets more starts this year!

Was surprised to read that Sagnol was sharp and Demichelis was sloppy… just the opposite of what we’re used to. Hope Micho finds back to form soon, and wouldn’t it be nice if Sagnol plays up to his potential?

GK: Rensing, Kraft: Incomplete. Not much to do. I guess you could say Rensing should keep a clean sheet against a fan club. I figure, they had to give them one if they want it to remain a fan club.

D: Lucio, Van Buyten: Incomplete. Not enough to do. Van Buyten played with a little more energy overall

Demichelis: Despite scoring two goals, probably looked the worst of the regulars. A lot of bad touches and missed passes, he’s definitely still warming up.

Sagnol: Sharp, if unspectacular. Sent a few good crosses in from the right. Seemed to get banged up in shoulder/elbow late in the first half, but not a big deal.

Altintop: Scored a routine goal, and handled the ball well in his limited chances.

MF: van Bommel: Wore the C, scored a goal, and generally looked to be in game shape. Should be in the starting 11 against Erfurt.

Ottl: Typically Ottl, you hardly notice him until he takes a long range shot. In a match like this, there’s not a lot for him to do except be competent.

Lell: Opened the scoring, but still seems to take bad angles on balls. What is it with him and that tendency?

Schweinsteiger: Came on in the 2nd half, and missed a penalty! Ok, I’m not going to rip him for that, he’s just trying to give a fan club keeper a moment in the sun. Not a bad play by the keeper either.

Ekici: Who? Exactly, I hardly noticed this guy.

FW: Yilmaz: Young (20) striker from the reserve team, put one in the net, but didn’t show any attacking pace.

Podolski: A few nice moves up the left side, but otherwise ordinary. About what you’d expect for his first trot back out on the pitch for Bayern. Didn’t see his goal because the FCB feed dropped out.

Ngwenya: He must show flashes (I really don’t watch the MLS), because a lot of European sides have given him a shot, but there weren’t any today. Not Bayern material.

Kroos: Played up front, and scored 3 goals. The already-familiar zooming Kroos crosses were strongly in evidence too. Is at match fitness level, and was clearly the best player on the pitch today. I think it’s going to be hard to keep him off the field this season..
