Demichelis was certainly a good match for Gomez. He could’ve been deadly. It’s probably good that their crosses were never on the mark today.

*I thought Demichelis played well–contained Gomez skillfully on more than one occasion. Christian Lell on the other hand looks less and less ready for prime-time. I thought Rensing played with more confidence than at any other time this season.

*It looked like the timing was just slightly off on the crosses intended for Gomez, how much of that is first-game-back excused is unclear.

*Credit Schäfer with some nice saves, but the 2nd Bayern goal was definitely his fault in that he did not set up the wall properly. I still feel Stuttgart need to make a move for Enke if they want to challenge for the title next season.

*Schweinstieger was encouragingly…competent today. It was pretty funny to actually see him with the captain’s armband, considering he’s what, about 6th choice?

*Ribery–unglaublich. What more can you say. A Ray Hudson call sorely missing on that one. And on the 2nd, you know on an ordinary day Ribery would have set up Toni for that goal, but he kind of said “Screw it, you’ve scored enough Luca!”

*Speaking of Toni, my favorite Toni moment of the match was his reactions to the little fracas he had with Schäfer near the end–love the dramatic leg bending. I guess when a match goes 4-1 you can love those moments a little bit more.

*GOL TV guys apparently unaware of who Dick Advocaat is, because when they showed him on screen, they made no commment. Well, I think his scouting report today should provide him with a lot of fear. Let’s take care of business in St. Petersburg, and officially become Deutscher Meister in Magath’s face next weekend!
