Luke: You know I'm hoping for a van Bommel captaincy so of course I think he's the logical starting choice. ;) But, again, I'm a wee bit biased on the subject. :)
'Well, it doesn’t really matter, I mean they’ll have a ring of stars around the logo sooner than later.. :)'
Absolute truth my friend. ;)

Adam: I think this is the design, but I could be wrong. I really don't think they'd sell something that wasn't the final design.

Well unless they put prototype picture on their store page the star layout used in the Lippstadt game is official. If you look at the home shirt and shorts available for purchase in the official team store they contain the two line (1 star top line, 3 star bottom line) layout that was used in yesterdays game.

Also looking at video from yesterdays game again I noticed they didn't put names on the jerseys. Since the 4 star layout appears to be official does this mean this years home shirts will have no player names on them?

Well, it doesn't really matter, I mean they'll have a ring of stars around the logo sooner than later..:)

Nice quiet camp so far. That's a good thing. I really don't think Bayern have much use for Gomez at this point. He really would be more of a replacement for Toni than Podolski, so maybe 2 years down the line, that's something to look at.

It will be interesting to see who emerges in the central midfield. Between van Bommel, Ze Roberto, Borowski and Ottl who's going to be starting? I guess the conventional wisdom would say van Bommel and Borowski. You would sort of expect Ze Roberto to kind of fall back into a reserve role at his age--but then remember how great he was the first third of last season! He made as much of a difference as Toni and Ribery in those early matches last season. One kind of gets the sense Ottl can't quite bring it up to the level of a starter for Bayern. There are always flashes, but the consistency seems to be lacking. Borowski will be making some adjustment, having played on the left regularly in Bremen. I'll leave the van Bommel analysis to his biggest fan :) Perhaps the best thing about this group is that you really have two veterans and two younger players (Borowski really kind of falls in the middle, but we'll call him younger), so you have a formula for alternating tired legs-I think this will be more of a factor under Klinsmann.

Huh. Looks like they took the old shirts and embroidered another star on them in a hurry. Not really the best layout, I agree. Normally they spend some time on this, so you'd think they'd find something better -- four stars in a row or *something* more symmetrical. C'mon, Germans, find a more efficient design! ;-)

So what does everybody think of the way they did the 4 star layout? If you watch the Lippstadt video or any pictures of the match you can see the new layout. I'm not too fond of it. I was hoping they would do all 4 in a row but instead they just took the old 3 star design and added an additional star above the middle one.

I was hoping for
****
We Got
*
***

On possibility though is that since this is preseason they just added the star to jerseys they already had in stock so they wouldn't be wasted. However I'm thinking this probably is the new permanant design.
