Thanks for the kind words guys. You bet I’ll be here Angela, we’ll be arguing about Breno, seeing if Berni Dreher gets a farewell match (or Thomas Kraft gets a debut), familiarizing ourselves with Fürstner, Sikorski and Wagner and hopefully seeing one last clean sheet from our captain.

Awful match today, but fun, great season. I know some of us are still feeling bitter over Thursday, but I’m already taking the longer view, that in reality, this was a rebuilding season for us, and the team has achieved everything we expect of it. The time to talk transfers will be after the Hertha match. In this moment, it’s really a time to reflect on what a dominant campaign it’s been, and how this team really only let it get hurt by complacency once the entire season. How much fun were those early matches, where it seemed Luca Toni had an alarm in his foot that would go off after 15 minutes to tell him “Time to score”? The December matches frustrated everyone, or put them to sleep, and yet the club kept grinding through, never dropping enough points to concede the league lead. We won at Schalke (a historic feat), at Bremen, and at Leverkusen; and one could argue the match we most should have won and didn’t was at Hamburg. No matter how much the back 4 pissed us off, you cannot argue with results and raw data. Not many teams can let go of someone who has been as successful as Roque Santa Cruz has been this season, and not give it a 2nd thought. FC Bayern, Deutscher Meister, the Paulaner tasted as sweet as ever this May morning!

The game certainly doesn’t justify any celebration (it was dreadful, really), but this isn’t about a single game, so:
