Catching Up

By: Angela | October 1st, 2008

I took a few days off. I unplugged, disconnected and went away to the mountains in the land of non-existant telephones, cell phone coverage and internet coverage and became one with nature. I took some much needed time away from everyone and everything. I took photos of elk and deer, lakes and sunsets and just completely disconnected from everything. I’m getting pretty good at timing my disappearing acts with Mark’s bench time. Maybe it’s fate. ;)

Contrary to popular belief, his Captaincy isn’t in jeopardy. Hoeness has even come out and said that the media need to knock it off and stop making so much speculation where there is none. Mark (so they say) has a few issues with this playing style that has to be worked out, but they have no doubt he’ll be back in the line in no time. One things for certain, my Dutchie isn’t a quitter so I’m sure they sparked a fire in him and before long he’ll be back on the pitch where he belongs.

I was more than amused by the many “Klinsi Raus. Go Home!” signs in the stands during the Lyon match. No, I didn’t get to see it due to being one with nature and all, but I seen photos. Currently I’m discontent with a team that is a shell of its former self. I long for days when I enjoyed watching them play the beautiful game. Technically sound football. Right now I never know what I’m going to see, what I’m going to get or how embarrassed I’m going to be by their play. I’ll stick around because I’m a dedicated fan. I don’t leave when the going gets rough. I just get frustrated and throw things. ;) Not really, but there are days lately that I spend a lot of time yelling at my tv screen.

Latest transfer rumor on the market is that Tottenham is ready to splash some cash in Bayern’s direction for one of my very favorites, Daniel van Buyten. Mark’s on the bench, Daniel’s rumored (yet again) to be on his way out, whatever is this girl going to do? I might just have to go on strike and boycott and all that good stuff. Huff and puff and throw things like a girlie girl and swear that if they take away my pretty boys I won’t watch anymore. I wonder if anyone would actually care. Not that I’d follow through, I have too much love for my team, but currently I’m not a happy Bayern fan. Actually, I don’t know anyone in my Bayern Camp that is a happy Bayern fan.

I am back now and plan to bring everyone back up to date on the happening on and off the pitch in the Bayern camp. I hope you’re all well and still sticking with me.

    Hi Angela:

We could all use some time in Garmisch or whatever American mountains you escaped too, hmm?

I can’t really do an analysis-type of post, since I saw about 10 minutes of the Lyon match, and my feed dropped during the goal in the Hannover match. GOLTV is just about dead to me.

I will say this about the Hannover match–matches like that happen. Bayern was not terrible that day. The goal scored on them was legitimate and fortunate. It was just really, really bad timing to have that type of match. There was a similar one in Frankfurt 2 seasons ago, on St. Patrick’s day I believe, and that was also a loss we really didn’t need at that moment.

I really liked the lineup that took the field against Lyon. I’m excited about Breno and Lucio working together, but I don’t know how much tension that will create with Demichelis going forward. I do think that Demichelis essentially playing in Van Bommel’s place will be effective in Europe. Maybe Mark will see more action in the Bundesliga matches, as Klinsmann seems intent on some form of rotation.

The club has got to slog through and pick up the points over the next few weeks, even if they are ugly matches. We should not struggle with opponents like Bochum at home, and there’s no reason to think we will. Despite all the bad results, there’s no reason to think we can’t be in the top 3 by the time we visit Schalke.

Bild.de expects MvB to leave at the winter break. They are all Doom and Gloom.

You all read about the UEFA Cup match fixing allegations? I hardly think that FCB would have gone down 5:1 if they had a choice. Seriously. The rangers have been implcated in the Finale as well. WHo knows let’s hope it was just someone talking out of their tush.

I’m impressed with Breno over the past 2 weeks. He has a bright future ahead of him as long as he keeps his temper in check.

Oddl, I’m sold, he’s got footwork and can cross a ball very competently.

My favorite, Lahm, he’s really become consistent. I’m happy with his play and he’s really put on the pressure in attack. Oddl up one side and him on the other is a real threat that we need to exploit. Hopefully Oddle remains in the lineup while lell spends some time growing up.

I can’t wait to get back home and watch the games among real fans in the “Premiere” Sports bar nearby.

Welcome back Angela! Hope you had fun in that vacation.

You are right, maybe we’re not happy fans of FCB anymore but this teams makes the blood in our veins as red is it can be. I have full faith in my team whether they play with the first squad or junior squad. When Bayern loses or draws it makes me realize that they’re not superheroes and failure is part of human nature, yet the best part in Bayern spirit and German football in general is that they’re so stubborn and they eventually fight back and stand up for the job. That’s what makes me really proud of my team.

Now that we have Ribery back we need van Bommel and Altintop (damn injury will lay him off till christmas!) and when we do have them back all other teams shall be afraid.

Thanks for the welcome back everyone. I appreciate it.

Jan: We’re trying to get answers from them on why they’re not showing the game, but it’s not going very well. They often respond with we’re sorry you’re frustrated and give some vague answer about providing the best Bundesliga coverage without ever answering your questions. It’s very disappointing.

Jan: Well, they are playing Bochum–with all due respect to any potential Bochum Offsiders! Even I can see why they might not show that one. They do tend to stick with teams at the top of the table, and neither Bayern nor Bochum fit that at the moment. The real problem is they’ve cut out *all* live coverage of the Bundesliga and reduced the number of matches per week to 2 (it was once 4, with 3 live). Understandable, if this to give higher profile to La Liga or something, but this is not the case. I know I’ll go out of my way to *not* patronize GOLTV’s sponsors..although I wasn’t lining up for Giuseppi Franco’s hair loss formula in the first place :)

Luke: *GASP* What do you mean you weren’t lining up for Franco’s products?? I am just shocked! ;) I like the shammy myself. :P

I am disappointed in the coverage that they’ve been providing on Gol as of late. At least I know where to find the games streaming.
