Don't know if Lucio is really what Barcelona is looking for, mainly cause of his age. They seem to be after a younger guy.

What about Lahm and Sagnol? Both are said to be on the Barcelona list to replace Zambrotta at the right back. There's a chance they will leave? And could Lahm do well at right back, mainly having played at left back in recent times?

Aaron: Couldn't agree more on the defending account... It has been solid and you can't deny the fact that it has to do with the players. I'm not a fan of Lucio and probably never will be, but that doesn't mean I don't see when he does well... he just makes a lot of mistakes.

I am uncertain if Bayern will even make a bid for Merte, but I know Klinsmann is a fan.

About Dimechelis and Lucio: Players hold a lot of power over clubs. This is just the way it is, so Bayern may not have much leverage in these situations. Martin should just understand that there probably won't be a place for him immediately when he returns from Argentina duty, so that is a sacrifice he must be willing to make. If he has any other expectation about this, he's simply misguided.

About Lucio: I know Angela's not a huge fan, but I am. I think Bayern must think long and hard about this, since I don't think it is any coincidence that our defending has been superb this year. Obviously it's a team effort, but having Lucio makes a lot what Bayern does defensively possible.

About Mertesacker: There may very well be a bidding war for him, so I don't think it's etched in stone that he will be with us next year. I think many Premier League teams are going to be interested in him as well.

Wow! Given the uncertainty now surrounding Demichelis, Lucio, and van Buyten, there is now the chance that these three each may be wearing a different shirt in a different league next season.

On the bright side, we shouldn't have any trouble attracting quality players since it looks very much like we'll be a Champion's League team next year.

On the other side of the coin, our defending (with a few exceptions of course) has been utterly dominant this year, and with a new keeper coming in next year we're going to need this unit to be as steady and reliable as possible. This sort of turmoil could hurt us significantly as we look to the future.

Fingers are crossed...

'That honorary game for Oliver Kahn is looking more and more like Germany vs Germany….'
Look almost like it, Angela. Already back then when I read that Kahn's testimonial match will be against the German national team, I was wondering how it will all turn out. Going to be interesting.

Anyhow, nice to see how you thought of all the news that has been coming in lately. ;) So much news these days.
