Quite a surprise from Micho. He had to have known they weren’t going to play him in that position when Van Bommel returned.

I don’t think he wants to leave Bayern. The one thing that means the most to him is playing for Argentina, and he thinks he can do it as a central defender, not a center-mid. He gets kind of emotional when it comes to the Albiceleste.

I’m glad they’re now taking it kind of easy on him and letting him come back to training on Monday. They missed him in XI today.

Luke, you are absolutely right. He was moved because van Bommel was out. It wasn’t a permanent situation and he should’ve kept his mouth shut, played one more game and been done with it. Instead, he chose to react like someone took his lolli away and so he will sit out, and also not take part in team trainings, until Hitzfeld sees fit.

Ok, the reason this is really stupid is that it’s probably the last match he would be asked to do it. It was a move necessitated by van Bommel’s suspension. Maybe he feels he’s being taken for granted with all the ink and bytes spent on Ribery and Toni, and in my estimation, he has improved this season. Or maybe he felt the drama queens of Werder Bremen were in danger of stealing the FC Hollywood title and promptly took action!

First, MdM isn’t very good and should be happy he is on the pitch. Second, the reason he doesn’t want to return to the mid (his real position) is becasue he will be riding the pine … or they may be a the Recaro racing bench at Bayern.

Aaron: To be completely honest here, my first initial thought to this was ‘wow, arrogant much?’ He is a great player, but there is no room for that type of attitude. Bayern have already won games without him and while he isn’t as great as Demichelis, van Buyten is hungry. It’s not the time to be testing your bosses and possibly losing your position to, not just van Buyten, but other players who are eager to make it into the 11.

Is this his power play to leave Bayern?

I think he’s a fantastic player and we shouldn’t let him go. That said, I think that attitude can be very poisonous, so he has fallen in my eyes a bit.

This is interesting because there really hasn’t been much blowback with regard to Hitzfeld’s rotation strategy this season.
