zermatt: As you know, Lucio of course didn't get benched, but I don't think anyone will ever do that... I am not a fan of Lucio or his mistakes. I think it's time for him to be left behind for awhile.

For the Karlsruhe match please Herr Klinnsman drop Lucio and replace him with Breno! As Lucio is Bayerns biggest weak point in the defensive line!! I don't mind if they pair Breno with Van Buyten or Demichellis in the centre of defense. But Lucio must be benched to give him a wake up call!

To make things more interesting, van Bommel scored the only goal in Holland's qualifier today.

jocamryn: MvB is class when it comes to the fans. I have a jersey that he autographed specifically to me. A friend of mine told him that he has a very big fan in the US and he seemed pretty tickled about that. He even wrote it specifically to me on the back of the jersey and signed his name but then wrote 'bommel' really clearly underneath it. He's truly a class act and completely unappreciated.

I would say let Poldi go. I don't necessarily think he wants to leave Germany. I think he wants to go to Cologne, but unfortunately he's going to have to leave Germany first. I don't think that Bayern would give him to another Bundesliga team. I could be wrong, but I don't see them doing that. I think it's clear that he doesn't want to be with Bayern and his performances and attitude show that.

Please juergen,

Bring back MvB. He may be a distraction, at times, but he has a great presence on the field as long as he is not collecting red cards. I met him in AUG'07 and he's appreciative of his fans. He made time to ake a pic with my boys and I'll bever forget that.

Off topic: It's official according to Bild.de. "Für 45 Millionen! Tottenham will Poldi und Toni" It is unsettling to me becasue that's an amount of money that would cause anyone to blink. Poldi...OK, in light of Real Madrid recinding their interest, this looks like the only good offer. Poldi I do not think wants to leave Germany though. However the prospect of him headlining against FCB is a thought not relished by many either, especially with his motivation renewed and his heart gets into it. Poldi on fire is dangerous to any team.

Luca though.... I am quite sure that he is completely and totally off the tble. I mean he was last year's tor koenig. In a slump or out of form right now but he'll bounce back.

There was a brief period last season, where the old formation seemed to results in a passive approach, and Hitzfeld's strict adherence to that made the team predictable. That said, one could see that the players were extremely comfortable playing that way, and Klinsmann's reversion to that would be a good idea in that it is a (re)starting point.

It does seem now in hindsight that there's been a culture shock because of the new system and that the players are yet to buy into it completely. This is the difference between the Nationalelf and Bayern. Bayern has old(er) pros set in their ways, while Klinsi could call on youth for the National team and impress his philosophy on them.

The only (and quite pathetic) analogy I can think of for this situation is that of College (American) Football. Every time a new coach is brought in, the Uni generally allows for 3-4 recruiting classes to come in before judging his performance since he needs players with a specific skill set to succeed in his system. In the meantime, the coach tinkers with his playbook to suit the current group. Klinsmann might just be doing that.
