So just when I thought things would be settling down, they’re getting hotter than ever when it comes to Daniel van Buyten and Lukas Podolski. It seems we’re all going to have to wait until the transfer window closes before anything is certain. Daniel had agreed not to move, but now that his former boss, Kevin Keegan, is taking the lead anything is possible.

And, according to his representative Christophe Henrotay, a reunion with Keegan at St James’ Park would not be ruled quad at my disposal once the season restarts.

He told The Guardian: “Daniel would like to carry on doing his job at Bayern, but I have said to Kevin, ‘Anything can happen, the truth today is not the truth tomorrow’.

“And Daniel appreciated Kevin’s management at Manchester City.”

Lukas Podolski is another issue. Uli Hoeness has said he would let him go on loan.

“I want to help him to make it to the European Championships” Hoeness declared.

“And if we loan him out and everything goes well, we have done everything right. Then we have got him games and he comes back on July 1.”

Ottmar Hitzfeld and Michael Henke, however, have thrown a big ol’ bucket of ice cold water on such a suggestion.

“We only have four strikers and we all know how quickly accidents can happen,” said Hitzfeld after Monday’s team training. “I am reckoning with having this same s
Hitzfeld’s assistant coach was even more dismissive when confronted with the rumours, insisting that a loan move for Podolski was “not a topic”.

“We need Lukas. He is a very important player for us,” was Michael Henke’s reaction to the press.

It’s a rollercoaster ride for all of us Bayern fans at the moment and I, for one, hope like hell I can make it through this transfer window with my team in tact.

    With Breno on board they could do without van Buyten I guess.

    Jan: I guess they could… but I am not keen on seeing van Buyten leave.. though I’ve never been a big fan of Lucio so that may be why.
