Robben now out of Freiburg match; Demichelis to catch up on sleep
By: Luke | October 16th, 2009Completely invalidating an entire section of yesterday’s entry, Arjen Robben apparently forgot to rub magic spray or Paulaner or whatever miracle salve he was using on his surgically repaired knee and did not make the trip to Freiburg with the team. If nothing else works, he will start bathing in a nice 1985 vintage Bordeaux, although the club hope to have him ready for the mid-week trip there via the use of actual scientific methods.
Martin Demichelis will also stay behind in Munich, apparently jet-lagged from his trans-continental voyage from Argentina, although at least he is not also dealing with the post-traumatic stress syndrome of not qualifying.
I hate October transfer rumors. I hate even talking about transfers in October. That usually means, your team really sucks. But, this post needed a little filler, and so the latest and probably meaningless Breno loan rumor involves Juventus. What I do find worth talking about is this: it is pretty apparent that Breno will need to be loaned out, but where should he go? Bayern have a history of loaning out defenders within the Bundesliga. It worked with great success in Lahm’s case, perhaps not as much in Görlitz and Lell’s. I certainly expected we’d be seeing Mats Hummels in red this season at the time we loaned him out, nevertheless, I suppose that is a success of a different sort. At any rate, I think Breno ought to stay in the Bundesliga. I would take it as a sign he will be sold if he’s actually loaned to a foreign side. What do you think would be a good team for him come January?

Toni, Klose and Van Bommel to start tomorrow according to Bild. I hope Toni silences all his critics and doubters by bagging a goal or two.
I definitely feel Breno has shown he has tons of potential. He’s extremely athletic, but he needs playing time. Juventus is a place where he wouldn’t get enough time and I agree he should stay in Bundesliga. A mid table club like Frankfurt, Hannover, Dortmund would be good.

Big problem for the match today… While most of Bayern’s players were off on international duty and LvG was beating his head on the wall to avoid boredom, Freiburg got 2 solid weeks to get ready for the game. Agreed that if Breno is sent out on loan, it needs to be somewhere he will play regularly.
