Luke: I don't think that the change in Klinsi will be enough for Poldi. Of course I hope I'm wrong, but his inability to mesh with Toni and his inability to be consistent has me thinking otherwise. He's been far too selfish this season. If that changes, then maybe he can at least with work Toni, but so far, I haven't seen him do anything that convinces me otherwise. And you were spot on about Butt.

Brian: Rensing is good, he will get better, but I think he lacks the confidence needed to be Bayern's consistent No 1. We'll have to see where things go. In regards to Boro: I think the more players we get, the more this is starting to look like the National Team that was ruled by Klinsi.... And I will keep my comment to myself on the latter part of that sentence. ;)

Poldi absolultely, positively must leave to resart his career. Will he? of course not. If you are a player of his status, and also happen to be German, the popular sentiment is that you belong in Bayern. Plus Klinsi could persuade almost anyone to play in Muncih.

Can't see Rensing staying as the Number 1 for long. He's good, he'll probably get better, but he's not good enough for FCB right now.

Of course I think Boro made the wrong decision, but at least he made it early and kept everything out in the open, unlike the previous Bremen to Bayern mover.

Meanwhile on the topic of GKs, I brought up Butt on one of our comment strings a couple months back--so I'm glad to see I have some predictive ability! He would be fine, I also think Schwarzer would have worked well. I think another name we may start hearing is Simon Jentzch. I think he would also be suitable, and he has the Berni Dreher aspect of having played for Uerdingen!

Here's where I disagree with you rather strongly Angela. If Podolski stays on under Klinsmann, his goal scoring will be in the teens next season. The tactical shift we see in Bayern next season will benefit Podolski far more than anyone else in the squad. It's also better for him: right now, he would command something like 10m Euros for a transfer fee, which is exactly what he was bought for. If he has another season like this one, his value will be relatively unchanged; if however, he performs the way I expect him to, he'll have one more year left on a contract at Bayern and suddenly talks of 25m Euro transfers to England. Oh and the prospect of Toni turning 32 and 31 respectively. He stands to make a lot of money whether he transfers or stays. Add to that the fact we've now seen two consecutive seasons where Klose is only able to put together about half of a decent campaign, and I think both the fans AND Podolski himself should want him to be back for next season.

I honestly believe its best if he moves on. With Toni and Klose, Podolski hasn't had much of a chance and when he has, he hasn't formed the best dynamic with his strike partner. Klose and Toni just have -it- when they're on the pitch together.
