Trio Departure
By: Angela | June 19th, 2009This summer FC Bayern are hoping to sale Tim Borowski, Christian Lell and Andreas Ottl in hopes of raising some money to make a bid for Chelsea full-back Jose Bosingwa.
“We are holding talks, but we still need the approval of Chelsea,” Rummenigge told Kicker magazine. “He is one of the best right full-backs around.”
I can’t say that I’m disappointed by the sale of Lell. I am not a fan and would’ve loved to see him leave Bayern long ago. He is dirty on the pitch more often than not and I won’t even go into what I think of him off the pitch.
In other news, there is a response on the Official Bayern Website about an article that ran in Sport BILD magazine dated 17 June 2009. In the article, it was printed that the supervisory board had decided that Franck Ribéry would be allowed to leave the club for an appropriate transfer fee and not obligated to remain at the club. This was an untrue story and the Board of Directors has responded by releasing some facts on the official site.

Who in the right mind would buy Lell?

I am sure there’s an Austrian team out there who would take Lell in a heartbeat. Of course the transfer fee might be a case of Stiegl or something, which won’t help much with Bosingwa.

Anyone happen to notice that there is now a new #33 Gomez home jersey available in the FCB fan shop, but Breno was not relisted with a different number? Marketing hiccup? Or loan deal imminent?

Luke: I noticed that too but thought maybe it was a mistake. We’ll have to see though.
Nick: I haven’t a good answer to that.
And @ the anonymous poster, I don’t exactly hate Lell because I’m not a hateful person. It’s a very strong word and I don’t use it to describe anyone I don’t think, but there is definitely a strong amount of dislike for Lell. Always has been and always will be. Won’t change my mind there.

My initial read on the GOLTV-ESPN deal with La Liga, is that it can go one of two ways.
1) It’s might actually a real good thing for us Bundesligists, because it may open up some GOL TV time for Bundesliga when ESPN Deportes is carrying a La Liga match.
2) It might be terribly frustrating because we may now get preempted by a “2nd choice” La Liga match.
What I’m really hoping for is that Setanta US either collapses or gets sold of, and then maybe, just maybe, we’d get some German Cup broadcasts. With GOL now also sharing Copa Del Rey rights with ESPN, there would seem to be some hours for it too. Of course, it Setanta US collapses or is sold off, it probably means EPL on ESPN.

@Angela and anon
Hehe This forum will never get mistaken for the Christian Lell fan club… At this point most of us would be happy if Bayern would get a weissbier for him, as long as he never wears red again in Allianz.I wish there were more names on the Bayern goal tender wish list… The pickings are rather slim in the bundesliga, Bayern should also be looking elsewhere.
Oh, and for all you Lucio haters, seems Van Gaal said some things that have offended Lucio, so you may get your wish and see him gone soon.

@Roger: I personally can’t wait until he’s gone from Bayern and I never have to see him play for the team again. I won’t be disappointed at all to see him gone, though I fear that Lucio will take a beating now since he’s pretty much the only one left who I’m not a fan of. Though, it will never be as bad as Lell!

I think Jose Bosingwa would prefer a club in Spain’s Primera Division.
